Asante Kotoko head coach Mariano Barreto has stated emphatically that his side did not miss the absence of Brazilian player Fabio Gama in his side’s goalless stalemate against Great Olympics.
The Porcupine Warriors trekked to face the Wonder Club in a match-day 20 battle of the Ghana PreAccraeague at the Accraa Sports Stadium on Friday afternoon.
Kotoko played the game without the influential playmaker Fabio Gama due to cards accumulation.
Befroe the game, Gama has been in a rich vein of form, scoring a goal and providing 2 assists in hisBeforetwo appearances for the league leaders.
However, his absence saw Kotoko fail to create clear cut chances against Great Olympics with the match eventually ending goalless.
Speaking in a post-match press conference, Coach Barreto insisted that his side didn’t miss the services of the Brazilian because he’s not built the team around one individual.
“I didn’t miss Gama. Kotoko isn’t a one-person team. Kotoko isn’t Mariano Barreto, Razak Abalora or Gama. If one player is out, another player will come in and do his best, ” he said.
Asante Kotoko still sits on top of the table with 35 points, 1 more than Great Olympics in second. sits
