Accra Hearts of Oak, the Ghana Premier League giants, has bid farewell to 32-year-old Ghanaian midfielder, Gladson Awako, after a two-year stint.
Although his contract with the Phobians was set to expire in 2024, both parties have reached a mutual agreement to part ways.
Awako’s arrival at Hearts of Oak in 2021 was met with controversy, resulting in him being sidelined for over 100 days before making his debut.
During his time with the club, he played a pivotal role in their FA Cup triumph two seasons ago and also captained the Black Galaxies in the CHAN tournament held in Algeria.
Following Fatawu Mohammed’s departure, the former TP Mazembe midfielder was named as the club’s captain.
Unfortunately, injuries plagued his last season, leading the experienced midfielder to seek a ‘fresh start’ this summer by parting ways with the Phobians.
