1 min read

Karela United relied on a late equalizer to hold Hearts of Oak to a 1-1 draw in a match-day 31 fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.

The result means GPL leaders Asante Kotoko will need just a draw in their oustanding away match against AshantiGold on Thursday to be confirmed as league champions for this season.

The Phobians opened the scoring in injury time of the first half after midfielder Sulley Muntari crossed the ball to young attacker Benjamin York, who turned round his marker and struck a half volley past goalie Felix Kyei.

But, Karela United fetched the equalizer through substitute Emmanuel Owusu Boakye in the 82nd minute after coming off the bench in the 60th minute.

During the game, a pitch invader was arrested by officers of the Ghana Police Service and placed in handcuffs for attempting to take a selfie with players during the game.
