Former Asante Kotoko bus driver cries for help
2 min readFormer Asante Kotoko bus driver, Nana Berchie – who was behind the steer when the club was involved in a gory accident three years ago – has declared his family broke.
In 2017, Asante Kotoko team was involved in a road accident on the Nkawkaw-Kumasi road when the team was returning to the Ashanti Regional capital after a Ghana Premier League encounter against La-based Inter Allies.

The horrible accident claimed the life of the club’s Deputy Equipment Officer Thomas Kofi Asare, with other officials and players sustaining varied degree of injuries.
Unfortunately no member who was on board that day – July 12,2017 had received an insurance package they were promised.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Otec FM, Nana Berchie disclosed that he and his family are in difficult times as they struggle to cater for themselves.
“Due to what happened I am struggling financially. My wife has gone bankrupt now because she has spent all he resources looking after me. She has gone broke and now it is big burden on me.” Nana Berchie said in an interview with Kumasi-based radio station Otec FM.
“I am pleading with Kotoko to help me. I am aging also. I’m not getting any younger so I am pleading with them to help me turn my life around.”

A section of the players hot the opportunity to express their displeasure about the incident to the Prof. Nkansah led Committee which was set up by Manhyia to investigate the affairs of the Porcupine Warriors.
