Young Apostles FC secures historic promotion to Ghana Premier League

In a dramatic playoff match at Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, Young Apostles FC secured a place in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) by defeating Techiman Heroes FC on penalties (4-3).

Both teams had topped their respective groups in Zone 1 of Ghana’s second-tier league after the regular season, setting up a playoff to determine who would advance to the top division next season.

Young Apostles took the lead in the 8th minute, but Techiman Heroes equalized, leading the match to be decided by penalties.

With this victory, Young Apostles earned promotion to the Ghanaian top-flight, becoming the fifth team from the Bono Ahafo region to join the league, alongside Nsoatreman FC, Aduana Stars, Berekum Chelsea, and Bechem United.

This achievement is a significant milestone for Young Apostles, who will now compete with the top teams in Ghana’s premier division.

The 2024-25 GPL season will also include Vision FC from Zone 3 and Holy Stars FC from Zone 2, who have already secured their promotions.

Conversely, Bofoakwa Tano has been relegated from the Ghana Premier League following a poor season.
