“As a goalkeeper growing up in the UK I use to watch Joe Hart of Manchester City and he is my role model,” Wallocott revealed in an interview with Accra-based Happy FM
Wollacott earned his Ghana debut against Zimbabwe in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Cape Coast last year September.
He gave a confident performance in Ghana’s 3-1 win and has been the team’s safest pair of hands since then.
The 25-year-old has made nine appearances so far, three of which were at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and two of which were in the World Cup playoffs win against Nigeria.
“It’s an honour to represent the national team and I’m proud to wear the jersey every time I’m called up. It’s a dream come true to play for Ghana. Sometimes I wake up and I think it’s a dream,” he said in the same interview.
Wollacott was just crowned English League Two Goalkeeper of the Season.
