Kotoko suspends defender Patrick Asmah

1 min read

Asante Kotoko have suspended left-back Patrick Asmah for the rest of the season over disciplinary issues.

The ex-Atalanta defender is reported to have had verbal exchanges with Coach Prosper Ogum, where he accused the ex-WAFA trainer of being unfair with his selection.

The 26-year-old backliner came off the bench in the 73rd minute to replace Ibrahim Imoro as he featured in his 10th Ghana Premier League appearance of the season. He has been left out of the Kotoko squad for 11 GPL match-days and warmed the bench in 5 league games.

“Yes I have received a communiqué from the technical team that I have been suspended for the rest of the season,” Patrick Asmah told Kumasi based Oyerepa FM.

It would be recalled that Coach Prosper Ogum criticised Asmah in a post-match interview with Startimes for his tackle on Ronald Frimpong in the 18-yard box leading to a penalty for RTU in the GPL match-day 25 fixture, which Kotoko lost 2-1 in Tamale.
