“We may not win the league” – Bechem United’s president explains

President of Bechem United FC, Kingsley Owusu says bad officiating caused his side’s defeat to struggling Eleven Wonders at the Ohene Ameyaw Park when the two sides clashed on match-day 25 of the Ghana Premier League.
Eleven Wonders came from 2-0 down to beat Bechem United 3-2 at home. They scored twice in stoppage time to secure the all-important victory to boost the survival hopes.
According to Kingsley Owusu, the Hunters cannot win the league if the referees will continue to perform abysmally like the one they witnessed on Easter Sunday.
He explained that Bechem United is the best side to win the league based on performances exhibited by clubs in the league although they are behind Asante Kotoko by 8 points.
Bechem United are second-placed with 44 points and have also reached the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup.
He told Akoma FM that, refereeing decisions will cost his side the league title.
“By performance, Bechem United should win the league but because of other things, we may not win the league.
” If what I saw yesterday is anything to go by, our League will remain unattractive. The kind of officiating we saw yesterday was bizarre. The referee was determined to see a win for Wonders else the match was not going to end.”
“Prior to the match, I promised them a double bonus because of the issues I heard outside about a fixed match. I won’t have the moral right to ask them to play for a win next time if I can ask them to play soft against any team.
The referee needed to be demoted to division three and referred for a refresher course as well. My boys claimed that they have not seen this before in football. It was bizarre.”
