Jordan Ayew continued his impressive performance under Roy Hodgson by scoring twice in Crystal Palace’s 5-1 triumph over Leeds United. Ayew had already contributed to the winning goal against Leicester City last week, and he played a crucial role in Palace’s back-to-back wins against Leeds.
Leeds took the lead after 21 minutes through Patrick Bamford, but Palace responded just before halftime with a goal from Marc Guehi. Ayew then scored the go-ahead goal for the visitors after 53 minutes with a splendid header from a cross by Michael Oliseh.
Two minutes later, Ebere Eze added to the lead, while Odsonne Edouard scored the fourth goal with twenty minutes remaining. Ayew sealed the victory by taking advantage of a defensive blunder by Leeds and scoring to make it 5-1 after 77 minutes.
This season in the Premier League, the 31-year-old has scored three goals and provided two assists in 30 matches. With his two goals today, Ayew has now scored 32 goals, making him the Ghanaian player with the most goals in the English topflight.
