Mohammed Kudus was on target for Ajax in his first start since returning from injury as they thrashed Sparta Rotterdam 4-2.

The Ghanaian international after sitting on the bench and making sub appearances since his injury return was handed his first start since October against Liverpool, where he picked an injury.

Ajax opened the scoring in the 14th minute through Sebastian Haller. The French international doubled his side’s head in 37th minute, before Perr Schuurs made it 3-0 before the break.

Mohammed Kudus made it 4-0 in the 50th minute, he finished off a great pass from Dusan Tadic.

Sparta Rotterdam pulled one back in the 53rd minute through Danzell Gravanberch. Kudus was given the rest in the 60th minute, he was replaced by Davy Klaassen.

Sparta Rotterdam scored again in the 90th minute to reduce the deficit to two, Danzell Gravanberch scored for the second time. Ajax held on to win 4-2.

Kudus will hope his performance today will earn him a starting place against Lille in the Europa league on Thursday.
