Top 50 Clubs in Africa: No Ghanaian club in the top 30; Check details

2 min read

Asante Kotoko is the only Ghanaian side ranked in the top 50 clubs in Africa ahead of their 2020-2021 CAF Champions League campaign.

North Africans giants remain firmly and literally at the pinnacle of the continent as this season’s CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup finals approach.

According to FootballDataBase’s quarterly ranking report, record seven-time champions Al Ahly top the standings ahead of fellow Egyptian rivals Esperance.

Five-time champions league and two-time Confederation Cup Congolese winners, TP Mazembe, proudly hold a third-post rating, while 2016 champions Sundowns sit sixth.

With the exception of Congo’s AS Vita and the above two, the top 10 features seven clubs from North Africa.

Asante Kotoko is the highest-ranked Ghanaian side, who are in 34th after climbing one place up following their impressive performances in the truncated Ghana premier league.

The Porcupines are followed by AshantiGold, ranked 52nd. Berekum Chelsea and Aduana Stars are in the 73rd and 76th positions respectively. Hearts of Oak climbed up six places to the 92nd position.
