RTU Coach escapes GFA punishment with warning

1 min read

Real Tamale United Coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko has been warned by the Ghana FA Disciplinary Committee following his recent alleged involvement in an assault on Referee Emmanuel Quansah during a Ghana Premier League game against Aduana Stars.

The ex-Hearts of Oak Assistant Coach denied the initial charged by the FA that he threw a blow at Referee Quansah while he was being attacked by RTU supporters after the match-day 21 fixture in Tamale on March 20.

However, video evidence available to the GFA Disciplinary Committee was not conclusive in establishing whether Coach Shaibu Tanko was protecting or attacking Referee Quansah.

With 6 match-days to end the Ghana Premier League, a ban for the ex-Amidaus and Medeama trainer could have served as a huge blow to RTU considering the Tamale based club is flirting with relegation, despite occupying the 14th spot on GPL table with 33 points from 28 games.
