‘Princesses always a dangerous African squad’ – USA Coach

2 min read

The Head Coach of the USA U-20 Women’s team, Tracey Kevins has lauded the quality of the Black Princesses ahead of the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, tagging Ghana as a dangerous African squad.

The Princesses will open their Costa Rica 2022 campaign with a stiff contest against fellow Group D opponent USA at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto in Alajuela, Costa Rica on August 11.

Ghana is yet to register a win against USA after meeting the North American nation in three of its previous five appearances at the U-20 Women’s World Cup.

USA defeated Ghana 4-0 at Japan 2012 and drew 1-1 with the Princesses at both Germany 2010 and Papua New Guinea 2016. Coach Tracey Kevins insists he will commit to daily preparations until August 11 to record an impressive outing against Ghana and other Group D opponents.

“I’m excited by our draw and the chance to take on some of the world’s best teams. To play an always dangerous African squad in Ghana is an incredible opportunity for our players,” Coach Tracey told the US Soccer website.

“We have an expectation of excellence in our Women’s National Team program and we’ll be preparing every day until August 11 to give our best possible performance in Costa Rica,” she added.

After the meeting with USA, Coach Ben Fukuo’s side will return to action on August 14 against reigning world champions Japan at the same venue before rounding off the group campaign with a trip to San Jose to face the Netherlands at the Estadio Nacional on August 17.
