Otto Addo contract extension not yet agreed – GFA Boss

1 min read

Ghana FA Boss Kurt Okraku has denied widespread reports suggesting Ghana has already met Borussia Dortmund, the employer of Otto Addo over the extension of his contract to continue as Head Coach of the Black Stars.

The media report claimed Otto Addo has agreed to sign a contract extension until December 2022 after successfully supervising the Black Stars qualification to the World Cup at the expense of Nigeria.

“I woke up this morning to many stories on Coach Otto Addo. Truth:::: Ghana has not met with his employers of Otto Addo yet. Steps are being taken to that effect and we will keep everybody informed on progress made,” Mr. Okraku wrote on his Facebook wall.

“Getting our technical team in place for upcoming assignments is high on the agenda of our football association,” he added.

As confirmed by GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum on GTV Sports Plus on Thursday night, Kurt Okraku is still in Europe to hold talks with Borussia Dortmund, Aston Villa and Nordsjaelland over the possible re-engagement of Otto Addo, George Boateng and Didi Dramani.

The Black Stars will find out their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying opponents at the Draw scheduled for April 19. The senior national football team is in Group H of the 2022 World Cup with Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
