OFFICIAL: Asante Kotoko part ways with forward Joseph Amoako

Asante Kotoko and winger Joseph Amoako have mutually agreed to part ways.

The 20-year-old has terminated his contract with Asante Kotoko, concluding his nearly two-year tenure at the club.

In an official statement, the club conveyed, “Joseph Amoako has left the club by mutual consent. The Club thanks Joseph for his time with us and wish him the very best for the future.”

Amoako, previously associated with Helsingborg IF, had been indefinitely suspended by Asante Kotoko due to a conflict with a club supporter on Facebook.

He initially joined Asante Kotoko on a three-year contract from lower-tier side Young Red Bull FC ahead of the 2021/2022 season.

Although Amoako had the potential to make a significant impact at Asante Kotoko with his remarkable talent, his progress was hindered by injuries.

During his initial stint at Asante Kotoko, he notably contributed four assists in the first five matches. Unfortunately, injuries disrupted his trajectory, and he could only manage two appearances during the 2021/22 season before embarking on a loan spell to Swedish club Helsingborgs IF.

Returning to Ghana in March 2023, Amoako faced a challenging period abroad, including being wrongfully convicted of rape in Sweden. Subsequently, he was cleared of the allegations after extensive investigations.

Despite the difficulties he faced in Sweden, Joseph Amoako’s tenure at Helsingborg IF was limited to only ten matches across various competitions.
