Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah, has teased that his upcoming memoir will unveil surprising and intimate secrets about his life as a player.
Appiah highlighted that much is unknown about his humble beginnings in Chorkor, the slum where he grew up, and how he defied the odds to lead Ghana to the World Cup.
While people are aware of his achievements in the national team and his time abroad, they remain unaware of the challenges he faced during his difficult childhood.
During an interview with Joy Sports, the former Juventus player disclosed his plan to document his experiences in a book that will reveal deep secrets.
“While people saw me playing for Accra Hearts of Oak, U-17, U-20, and moving to Europe, there are profound details that people are unaware of,” Appiah shared, as reported by GhanaWeb.
He further added, “I have to keep them to myself because one day I will write my book, and that’s when I will unveil them. It will be a surprise, but there are certain deep details.”
“When I mention that I come from Chorkor, one has to understand that I have come a long way,” Appiah expressed.
Stephen Appiah played a pivotal role in leading Ghana to its first World Cup in 2006 and had a successful career playing for Juventus.
