Monaco defender Mohammed Salisu reveals his favorite position

Ghanaian defender Mohammed Salisu has revealed his preferred playing position on the field following his move to French Ligue 1 club AS Monaco.

After Southampton faced relegation to the English Championship, the 24-year-old completed a transfer to the French side in a deal valued at 15 million euros.

Despite encountering a delay in his debut due to ongoing recovery, Salisu is diligently working to regain full fitness and contribute to his new team.

Addressing the media prior to his team’s inaugural match, Salisu praised the impressive array of talented young players at Monaco and discussed his role once he returns to action.

“We have a really good young squad. I have to focus on the journey but I am working very hard in the gym and in training to be ready and to be back,” he said during the presentation,” he said.

He further elaborated, “I often play on the left side and I am comfortable in the middle as well. I don’t mind playing both,” he added.

Salisu’s most recent competitive appearance for Southampton dates back to March, and he has since been sidelined due to injury. Consequently, he missed crucial matches for the Black Stars in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

During Salisu’s absence, Monaco clinched a 4-2 victory against Clermont Foot in their opening Ligue 1 fixture.
