Medeama announce two new signings ahead of 2020-21 GPL

Medeama SC have announced beefing up their squad for the 2020/21 season with the signings of two new players.

The Mauve and Yellows have been busy preparing for another go at the Ghana Premier League (GPL) title after their impressive run last season was halted by the Coronavirus breakout in mid-March.

Medeama, in their quest to win the domestic top-flight, has strengthened the already in-depth squad with the acquisition of former Ghana Under-20 striker Abdul Basit-Adam and former Tema Youth defender Musah Baba Abdulai.

Basit-Adam joins the Mauves and Yellow on a three-year deal from lower-tier side New Edubiase United.

The 25-year-old returned to the Ghanaian top-flight after ending his stay at Turkish side Çanakkale Dardanel SK.

Basit Adam is expected to follow in the footsteps of his former New Edubiase colleagues Bernard Ofori and Prince Opoku Agyemang to deliver another superb performance for the Tarkwa-based club in the upcoming season.

He has had stints with South African giants Free States Stars, and Swedish outfits Gefle IF and Frej.

Musah Baba Abdulai on the other hand, penned down a three-year deal.

The centre-back before joining Tema Youth, spent two seasons at former FA Cup winners Nania FC.

Baba adds up the depth in the squad in the defensive department of Medeama with Daniel Egyin, Rashid Alhassan and Ali Ouattara all available.

Justice Blay who played on loan at Asante Kotoko last season has returned to the club and they have also secured the services of former Kotoko left-back Patrick Yeboah. Free-kick expect Kwesi Donsu is also around to provide the needed strength in midfield.

The 2020/21 Ghana Premier League gets underway on November 13, 2020, with Medeama playing hosts to Accra Great Olympics at Akoon Park.
