Benjamin Tweneboah’s solitary strike propelled Aduana Stars to defeat Berekum Chelsea at home to settle the Bono derby.
The Ogya Boys hosted the Bibires at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in matchweek 23 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Diminutive winger Benjamin Tweneboah’s 46th-minute volley was enough to settle the two teams as Aduana Stars took advantage of the midfield battle to steal from the visitors.
Berekum Chelsea came close to netting an equalizer through KofiOwusu, however, overwork for him always had a judgement on him especially with his final delivery. Several goal scoring chances were seen falling for Chelsea, all this while the solid backline of Aduana Stars will deal with it.
Michelle Abu came up twice with a long-range drive but was lacking efficiency at goal. Berekum Chelsea talisman Stephen Amankonah was put to frustration with several offside plays but always looked tormenting.
In the die embers of the game, series of dangerous attacks were powered by Berekum Chelsea mounting pressure on the home team backline but the Aduana defence stood tall.
The defeat means Berekum Chelsea has lost three games in a row.
The victory sees Aduana Stars FC climbing to the 7th on the league log with 33 points with Berekum Chelsea having just 27 points, lying on the 13th position.
