Asante Kotoko ended their two-game winless run after beating King Faisal 1-0 in a matchweek 23 clash at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Porcupines today played as a guest to the Kumasi rivals hoping to bounce back from the back-to-back draws with Eleven Wonders and Karela United.
The Fabulous boys who came into the game as favourites lived to the billing with an early minute incursion into the goal area of the Inhsllah Boys with a heavily armed midfield combination of Mudasiru, Boadu, Gama and Sherif.
Dominating play in the early minutes saw Fabio Gama bursting into the KIng Faisal goal area and but was fouled at the edge of the home side’s penalty box for a free-kick which was nicely converted by Imoro Ibrahim to give the visitors the lead in the 3rd-minute.
Although Kotoko will continue to enjoy the lion’s share of possession in the first 30 minutes of the second half, they still failed to find the back of the net with King Faisal putting on a good fight to ensure they did not concede.
The result sees Kotoko moving 49 points on top of the league log while King Faisal stays 11th on the log with 29 points.
Asante Kotoko next host Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in matchday 24 fixture.
