Manchester United keen to sign Ghana target Brian Brobbey

Manchester United are preparing to hijack Ajax’s transfer for striker Brian Brobbey, claim German newspaper BILD.
RB Leipzig signed Brobbey from Ajax in 2021, but the striker failed to settle at the German club.
Erik ten Hag re-signed Brobbey on loan and the striker made valuable contributions towards their Eredivisie title win.
Ajax were looking to sign Brobbey on a permanent basis this summer, but this is now in danger from United.
BILD report Manchester United are keen on Brobbey, reporting: “His move to ex-club Ajax seemed to be in the final meters. But now there is an interesting twist according to BILD information. In talks with Ajax it came out: England club Manchester United is said to have switched to Brobbey.”
RB Leipzig were said to be willing to sell for 15 million Euros, (£12.6 million). Don’t be surprised if United’s interest pushes up the price.
Brobbey was asked about Ten Hag’s move to United at the end of the season, telling Voetbal International: “I’m very happy for Ten Hag. It is a very nice step. As long as he gets me again in two years. No kidding.”
The young striker might get his move right away. United’s interest is no doubt sparked by doubts over Cristiano Ronaldo’s involvement for next season.
Sky Sports report Ronaldo will not be going on pre-season tour with United.
United’s interest in Brobbey makes sense, in that he is a player Ten Hag knows well and believes him, and his physical style and ability to hold up play, could be very well suited to the Premier League.
There is a risk that United sniping Brobbey from Ajax could upset the Dutch club, at a time where the Red Devils are attempting to sign Lisandro Martinez and Antony from them. The Daily Record report Ajax want £106 million for the pair.
Marca reported in 2021 that Brobbey dreamed of playing for United. Describing himself via De Telegraaf, he says he idolises Didier Drogba, commenting: “I am an annoying forward. Strong, dangerous and fast.”
