Ghana defender Andy Yiadom has been appointed as the new captain of English Championship side Reading ahead of the new season.
Since joining the team, Yiadom has played a vital role and has become an important player.
The Black Stars player committed his future to Reading by signing a new long-term contract this summer, keeping him with the team through2025. At the conclusion of the previous campaign, he was named Player of the Season.
Yiadom has played for the Royals for the past four years after departing Barnsley, a team he previously captained. Yiadom is one of the club’s longest-tenured players.
“It’s a privilege,” he said of his new role at the club.
“Ultimately I just want to be a service to the players and to the club.
“And we’ve got to reach for the stars. If everyone pulls in the same direction, we’re capable of big things,” he added.
The right-back made 38 appearances last season – taking his total appearances for the club to 132.
