1 min readRed Bull Salzburg midfielder, Majeed Ashimeru has revealed his desire to play for Ghana Premier League powerhouse, Hearts of Oak before he ends his career.
Ghana players who ply their trade abroad have been encouraged to return to the Ghanaian top-flight as way of improving the quality of the game, especially those struggling to earn much playing time.
Football fans and pundits of the West African country urged many after Asamoah Gyan and Gladson Awako made a return to the local scene by joining Legon Cities and Great Olympics respectively last year in the transfer window.
The 23-year-old midfielder – who is a staunch supporter of the club who, indicated he is committed to helping that course.
“I think now our senior Asamoah Gyan is also playing in the Ghana Premier League, so maybe in the future when we are done plying our trade in Europe, we can come home and support the younger ones.” He said on Citi TV’s The Tracker.
“So for me, it won’t be bad after my career, to come back to Ghana and play in the local league.”
Ashimeru featured for Ghana Premier League side WAFA at the top level between 2015 and 2017.
