"I preferred Chris Hughton over Otto Addo as Black Stars coach" - Ghana's Majority Leader

Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, Ghana’s Majority Leader in Parliament, has praised the efforts of Black Stars coach Chris Hughton.

Hughton, a former Premier League manager, assumed the role of Black Stars coach in February, with George Boateng and Didi Dramani serving as his assistants.

Since taking charge, Hughton has made an impressive start, securing a victory and a draw in his first two games at the helm of the national team.

Under Hughton’s guidance, the Black Stars emerged victorious against Angola in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers held in Kumasi, and then played to a draw in the reverse fixture in Luanda.

Expressing his admiration for Hughton, Hon. Osei stated that he personally favored the English coach over Otto Addo during the Ghana FA’s search for a new trainer.

“Chris Hughton is a skilled coach. I preferred him over Otto Addo when both were being considered. He possesses great talent and brings valuable coaching experience,” Osei commented during an interview with Oyerepa FM.

The Black Stars will soon resume action for the final two matches in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers, facing off against Madagascar and the Central African Republic.
