German-based forward, Braydon Manu has questioned his maiden Black Stars call-up, noting he never expected it due to a lack of playing time at his club.
The SV Darmstadt 98 attacker has handed his debut senior national team call-up by Charles Akonnor for the Black Stars two 2022 Fifa World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa.
Manu was an unused substitute in the two matches but he insists he didn’t deserve the call-up.
“I was surprised because at first, I thought it was fake. I didn’t believe it. First of all, I had a call from the technical director.
“I was happy but still I was like how? Because to be honest I had not played that much to say that they should call me,” Manu told Ahotor FM.
“I score goals. I assist. But, I thought to myself maybe they see something in me that other people have not seen. It was after that Charles Akonnor, the coach, called me…”
The 24-year-old, was on loan at Hallescher FC, despite joining Darmstadt from the same club in 2019.
