Hearts Of Oak prodigy Kwadwo Obeng Jnr has expressed happiness extending his stay at the club.

According to him, he could not turn down the deal from the Rainbow Club having granted him an opportunity to showcase his talent.

The striker signed a three-year contract extension with the club on Tuesday and will be with the Ghanaian giants until 2023.

Obeng Jnr joined the Phobians from Bibiani Gold Stars in 2017 and has since fought his way into the first team of the capital-based club.

The new contract is a confirmation of the club’s confidence in the budding striker.

“I had no option but to extend my contract when the club approached me. I won’t and can’t be ungrateful to Hearts of Oak, ” Kojo Obeng Jnr told Oyerepa FM.

Hearts have not been able to win the Ghanaian top-flight for the past 11 years.

With the 2020-21 season set to start November 13, 2020, Obeng Jnr has indicated he and his teammates will fight for the ultimate to end the team’s trophy drought.

“Hearts is one of the biggest clubs in Africa and Ghana. Our ambition is to win the league and qualify Hearts of Oak for Africa. We want to win something for the club.”

The 21-year-old will be expected to play an integral role in the upcoming season following the departure of strikers Joseph Esso and Kofi Kordzi.
