Hearts Of Oak close in on Aduana Stars with victory over Accra Lions

Hearts of Oak dumped the 3-0 defeat they suffered to Karela United over the weekend to beat Regional rivals Accra Lions 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The first half of the game was cagily contested and ended scoreless. Both goalkeepers pulled a good save to keep the scoreline barren.

Eric Ofori Antwi denied David Oduro from close range in the 25th minute, Andrews Owusu at the other end denied Linda Mtange in the final minutes of the half.

Hearts of Oak returned from the break a much improved side and opened the scoring in the 65th minute, Linda Mtange was alert to hammer in a rebound after Andrew Owusu had stopped a crossing from Samuel Inkoom.

Accra Lions pushed for the equalizer in the remaining minutes of the game but Hearts of Oak held on to win 1-0 and move into 3rd place on the league table with 38 points, 3 less than Aduana Stars’ 41.
