According to reports, Asante Kotoko’s management has engaged in discussions with former Black Stars coach CK Akonnor regarding the vacant coaching position at the club.
The dismissal of Seydou Zerbo, the previous coach, due to poor performance has left Abdul Gazale as the interim coach.
Sources have revealed that Akonnor, who previously managed the club from 2018 to 2019, has been consulting with people regarding the club’s current situation before accepting the role.
The management of Kotoko has requested that Akonnor take over as head coach for the remainder of the season before being offered a contract at the end of the current season, but Akonnor has yet to accept this offer.
During his previous stint as head trainer of the club, Akonnor led the team to play in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup and win the Normalisation Committee Special Competition.
Akonnor has also managed Eleven Wise, Dreams FC, and Hearts of Oak.
