Ghanaian clubs are not serious – Alhaji Grusah
2 min readPresident and Bankroller of King Faisal Alhaji Karim Grusah has taken a swipe at the Ghana Premier League clubs for accepting to play a league with no sponsors.
According to the experienced and outspoken football administrator, the leadership of the various clubs have not been proactive. He indicated that they have allowed themselves to be divided by the GFA and no more fight for a common goal.
He urged the Ghana FA to secure sponsorships to aid the clubs since the amount received from the television rights holders, StarTimes is not sufficient to meet their expenses.
“There’s no sponsor for the league and what we get from StarTimes is nothing. How can you run a team with GHS 5,000 looking at the number of games we’ll play, ” he told Kumasi-based Hello FM.
“Ghalca does not function anymore. During our team, we criticised the FA when they failed to do what was expected of them.
“What do we see today? They have allowed them to divide us and some members don’t even attend meetings.
“The clubs are not serious. Why should we play a league with no sponsorship? We couldn’t do anything to change anything during the COVID-19.
“If nothing is being done well, we have to blame the Ghana FA and they ought to sit up and do the needful by securing sponsors for the Ghana Premier and Division One Leagues.”
King Faisal are in the relegation zone in the ongoing Ghana Premier League after 25 rounds of matches.
