Empem Dacosta joins AshantiGold in a three-year deal

1 min read

Defender Empem Dacosta has signed for AshantiGold after leaving regional rivals Asante Kotoko a few days ago.

The hard-tackling centre-back – who featured only thrice for Kotoko in the truncated 2019/20 Ghana Premier League – was released from his 10-month old contract after being declared surplus to requirement by head coach Maxwell Konadu.

And the Miners quickly moved to secure his services for their impending 2020/21 Caf Confederation Cup campaign.

Dacosta on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, penned down a three-year deal with the 1997 Caf Champions League finalists.

He becomes the latest addition to the new AshantiGold side to be coached by Italian Roberto Landi.

Several regular players failed to extend their deal with the club and that has forced the four-time Ghana Premier League side to acquire new players.

Burkinabe goalkeeper Aboubacar Sawadogo, Yaw Arnol, Mathew Agama, Boadu Dacosta, Stephan Bentil have all joined the team.

Experienced duo Nathaniel Asiamah and Hans Kwoffie also have the opportunity to start life with their new club, having signed for the Obuasi-based club before the COVID-19 breakout.
