The hopes of former Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew to make it to a record fourth FIFA World Cup appearance seems to be hanging on a rope.

The offensive midfield workaholic, together with two other Ghanaian players, Dennis Odoi and Kamal Sowah have been officially relegated from the Dutch League after a poor season with NAC Breda.

Though Dede joined the Dutch side in the middle of the season and scored a goal to his credit, it wasn’t enough to save NAC Breda from sinking into the relegation zone.

The son of the soccer maestro Abedi Pele has already played in three FIFA World Cups in 2010, 2014 and 2022 and has three goals to his credit.

Going into the lower division in the Dutch league, most people believe it will be difficult if not impossible to catch eyes of Coach Carlos Queiroz for 2026 FIFA World Cup selection.

This comes few weeks after his junior brother Jordan Ayew’s side Leicester City also crossed carpet from the English Championship to League One in England.

The Black Stars current skipper, Jordan went to relegation together with his fellow Ghanaian Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
