Confirmed: Hearts of Oak to establish Women’s Team next season

Reigning Ghana Premier League champions, Hearts of Oak has confirmed the formation of women’s team beginning next season.

The board of the club gave this approval after a marathon meeting last week to deliberate on issues for the proper running of the club.

The board has also confirmed the name of their ladies side as Oaks FC who will compete in the national leagues.

The formation of a female side for the Phobians has been welcomed in the annals of Ghana football with most analysts saying it is long overdue.

Fans of the club have also welcomed the news with the leadership of their national supporters union saying, they will offer the team maximum support to reach the top.

Hearts of Oak has a checkered history in football in the men’s game, having won numerous titles in Ghana and in Africa.

It will be expected that their ladies team when formed, would rise to similar heights as the men team has achieved.

At the same board meeting, it was agreed that a new CEO be appointed as soon as possible to manage affairs at the clubs secretariat in Accra.

The management of the club has also been tasked to begin the process of locating and acquiring a site for the construction of a stadium for the Phobians.
