Check out Ghana Premier League standings and top scorers chart after first round matches

Asante Kotoko have finished the first round of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League season in a comfortable lead at the summit of the league table.

The Porcupines have been on fire since the start of the campaign under the guidance of the new head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum.

At the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon, Asante Kotoko locked horns with Hearts of Oak to clear the only remaining outstanding match in the first round of the Ghanaian top-flight league campaign.

On the matchday, Hearts of Oak had a bright start to the match with the team’s counter-attacking play causing all kinds of trouble for the opponent.

Unfortunately, the Phobians failed to capitalise on any of the chances to score as the first half ended in a goalless stalemate.

In the second half, both teams impressed but neither side could equalize, forcing the match to end in a draw.

Courtesy of the result, Asante Kotoko have finished the first round of the Ghana Premier League season at the top of the table with 37 points, seven points adrift second-placed Bechem United.

Bechem United, Aduana Stars, and Great Olympics complete the top four with Hearts of Oak lying 8th on the standings of the division.
