Champions Asante Kotoko thrash Elmina Sharks in 2021/22 GPL Coronation match in Kumasi

Asante Kotoko defeated relegated Elmina Sharks 3-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday night in a matchday 33 fixture of the Ghana Premier League which was also the coronation game.

Goals from Imoro Ibrahim and a brace from Cameroonian import Georges Mfegue ensured the Porcupines’ party were not spoiled.

Ogum’s side were crowned champions two weeks ago following their 1-1 draw with Ashantigold at the Len Clay Stadium.

The triumph ended the club’s 8-year wait for a major trophy, having endured a dry spell since 2014.

Kotoko, therefore, went into Sunday night’s game against Sharks with nothing to lose, irrespective of the outcome.
