Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz has invited twenty-three (23) players for the upcoming international friendly match between Ghana Black Stars and Mexico on May 22, 2026.
The match forms part of Black Stars intensive preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup which is just about a month away.
The Black Stars have already played two international friendlies and lost both to Austria (5-1) and Germany (2-1).
This will be their third test but first for Portuguese Manager Carlos Queiroz who was appointed about two weeks ago.
The 23-man squad consist of foreign and local players.
The team is also made up of few players from the national U-23, Black Meteors gearing up for their Olympic Games qualifying matches.
Some well known names in the squad include Majeed Ashimeru, Razak Simpson, and Birmingham City’s Ibrahim Osman and Felix Afena-Gyan.
Afena-Gyan last played for Black Stars when they pitched strength against Trinidad and Tobago in the Unity Cup in London.
It is also good to note that coach Carlos Queiroz has re-invited offensive midfielder Majeed Ashimeru. He has not been seen in the Black Stars team for quite some time now dues to injuries.
Other invitees are Abdul Aziz Issah, Ebenezer Annan of AS Saint-Étienne, Ibrahim Osman of Birmingham City and Paul Reverson.
The home based players include Salim Adams of Medeama SC, Heart of Lions’ Ebenezer Abban, Ebenezer Adade of Dreams FC and Nations FC captain Razak Simpson.
