Former Ghana International, Augustine Ahinful has advised head coach of the Black Stars CK. Akonnor to explain to Ghanaians his decision to ring changes in the team’s captaincy roles.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) in an official release announced on Sunday that Swansea City forward Andre Ayew has been re-named substantive captain of the Black Stars, with  Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey and Richard Ofori of Maritzburg in the Premier Soccer League in South Africa as first and second deputies respectively.

Andre Ayew was named as the captain of the Ghana national team elevating Asamoah as the ‘General Captain’ – a decision which brought a lot of issues head of the 2019 Afcon held in Egypt.

Several questions have been raised after Ghana’s all-time top scorer Asamoah Gyan was excluded from captaincy hierarchy. Others also felt that Mubarak Wakaso should have been named among the deputies having featured for the senior national team for long.

However, speaking on the issue with Hot FM, Ahinful has urged Akonnor to come public to throw more light on his decision.

“It’s important for C K to let Ghanaians know how he came up with the decision of the captains of the Black Stars.

“To avoid issues in camp, it’ll be good to explain why he named Andre Ayew, Thomas Partey and Richard Ofori.” He added.
