AshantiGold’s playmaker Appiah McCarthy out for 8 weeks, set to miss Kotoko clash

Head of Medical Team at AshantiGold SC, Dr George Chidi has confirmed that captain Appiah MacCarthy will be out of action for at least 8 weeks following an injury he sustained.

McCarthy, according to the medical practitioner suffered Lateral Collateral Ligament injury during their match-day 10 Ghana Premier League game against Legon Cities on Friday, January 21, 2021, in Accra.

He lasted only 30 minutes in a game that the Miners suffered a 5-2 defeat.

“He can’t play next match after the examination its most likely he sustained lateral collateral ligament injury, am expecting to receive the MRI Scan by today but he could be out for 6 to 8 weeks, ” Dr George Chidi told Oyerepa FM.

The midfielder has been instrumental for the Obuasi based club, having scored three, and assisted in 2 other goals this campaign.

McCarthy’s absence is a big blow to the ambition of Ashantigold, who are now 5th on the Ghana Premier league table with 16 points.

He will miss their match week 11 encounter against Asante Kotoko on Sunday, January 30, 2021, at the Len Clay Stadium.
