Asante Kotoko part ways with Christopher Nettey

Ghana Premier holders Asante Kotoko SC have parted ways with fullback Christopher Nettey.

The two parties were locked in negotiations for some months about extending the defender’s deal beyond his current contract which was near expiration on December 26, 2022. Still, according to sources close to the club, it decided against renewing the deal as the demands of the player were seen as excessive. 

Nettey since joining the Porcupine Warriors in December 2019 from lower-tier side Attram de Visser Academy went on to establish himself as a mainstay with the club.

His consistency with the Porcupine Warriors earned him a national team call-up where he made his debut against Sudan in an AFCON qualifier at the Cape Coast Stadium.
