Asante Kotoko just a point away from winning 2021/2022 Premier League title

Asante Kotoko need just one point from the clash with Ashantigold to win the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title after Hearts of Oak’s draw with Karela United on Monday.
The Porcupines who have been poor in their last few games but returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win over the Yellow and Mauves at the Akoon Park in matchday 31 on Sunday.
Goals from Andrew Appau and red-hot Franck Mbella ensured Kotoko secured all points to extend the lead on the log to 59 points.
Hearts of Oak, who are reigning champions were held to a 1-1 draw by Karela United on Monday afternoon at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The results now leave the Phobians at the 4th position with 48 points with four matches to end the campaign. This means, Samuel Boadu and his charges will finish the season with 60 points should they win all their remaining games.
Should Kotoko lose all their remaining games, the head-to-head will be applied where Kotoko will emerge as winners since they defeated their rivals in Kumasi and picked up a point in Accra.
Medeama SC and Bechem United who sit in 2nd and 3rd position have played 31 games while Kotoko have played 30 games each.
Kotoko now have the opportunity to win the league title in their next Ghana Premier League game which will be against regional rivals Ashantigold in Obuasi.
Kotoko will travel to Obuasi to face off with the Miners in an outstanding matchweek 29 fixture at the Len Clay Stadium on Thursday afternoon. A win or a draw for the Reds will propel them to the league title with three games to spare.
Prosper Narteh and his men will wrap up their campaign with an away game against Great Olympics, and a home game against relegated Elmina Sharks before playing Accra Lions at the Accra Sports Stadium on the final day of the season.
