The talented midfielder, previously associated with Medeama SC, has signed a contract to join the Bengazi-based club for the 2023/24 season.

In a Twitter post, the club welcomed Richard Boadu, affectionately known as “the bandit” for reasons well-known, to their ranks, celebrating his arrival on the Ghanaian football stage.

Having showcased his skills in the Ghana Premier League with both Asante Kotoko and Medeama, Boadu is expected to play a crucial role in Al Ahly’s upcoming campaign.

His departure from Kotoko marks the end of an impressive tenure, with Boadu leaving a remarkable impact, holding the record for the highest number of tackles and most duels won within the team. In his final season with Asante Kotoko, he contributed with two goals, five assists, and earned eight man-of-the-match awards.

Asante Kotoko expressed their gratitude for Boadu’s significant contributions to the team’s recent successes and praised his professionalism during his time with them. The club wished him the very best for his future endeavors.

Notably, the 28-year-old midfielder played a vital role in Asante Kotoko’s triumph in the Premier League during the 2021/22 football season under the guidance of head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum.
