Algerian club MC Alger terminates Ghanaian striker Joseph Esso's contract

Ghanaian forward Joseph Esso has bid farewell to Algerian club MC Alger after an association of nearly three seasons, as both parties have agreed to a mutual contract termination.

The Algiers-based club officially disclosed on Monday that they have successfully reached an accord with the 26-year-old player to amicably dissolve their contract.

Esso’s transfer to the Algerian top-flight side took place in March 2021, following his stint with Ghana Premier League team Dreams FC.

The former Hearts of Oak player made a striking impact for the Mouloudia club during the latter part of the 2020-21 season, netting an impressive 7 goals and contributing three assists across 18 appearances.

In the subsequent season, Esso continued to make his mark, tallying three goals and one assist throughout 33 matches in the Algerian Ligue 1.

However, his involvement on the field was more restricted in the most recent season, featuring in 14 matches, registering a solitary goal, and providing an assist along the way.

Esso showcased his prowess as a key member of the Ghanaian team during the 2019 WAFU Cup of Nations held in Senegal, earning a place in the tournament’s best eleven.
