‘Danlad Ibrahim needs rest at Kotoko’ – Joe Carr

Joe Carr, a former Ghanaian footballer, has advised Danlad Ibrahim to step down from his position as first-choice goalkeeper for Kotoko to avoid being disgraced.
The goalkeeper has received heavy criticism from fans due to his recent lackluster performances. He was in goal during Kotoko’s 3-0 defeat to Berekum Chelsea in week 26 of the Ghana Premier League.
Carr believes that Danlad, who is a talented goalkeeper and one of the best two in Ghana, should take a break and let others take over his role.
Carr stated that if he were in Danlad’s position, he would ask to be benched to regain his energy and form. He urged Danlad to take time off to avoid conceding more goals and risking further embarrassment.
Carr said, “Danlad is a national goalkeeper. He is a very good goalkeeper who ranks among the best two goalkeepers in Ghana but he must rest and allow others to keep the post. I would’ve asked to be benched if I was him to regain my energy and form”
“He has to rest to save himself from the disgrace of conceding a lot of goals. He is not the only goalkeeper in the team. I have been a goalkeeper and I have been in his situation before and my advice to him is to rest and come back fresh.”
Danlad Ibrahim has struggled with consistency this season, in part due to his involvement with national teams. He represented Ghana at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and was also part of the Black Galaxies team that played in the CHAN 2023 tournament. Despite Ghana’s early exit from the quarterfinals, Danlad showed a promising performance.
He also played a key role in helping the Black Meteors qualify for the upcoming U-23 AFCON tournament in Morocco.
