Malik Jabir, a former player and coach of Asante Kotoko, has criticized the current management of the club under Nana Yaw Amponsah’s leadership.
As one of the most successful football clubs in Ghana, Asante Kotoko has a passionate fan base, making any critique of the club’s management likely to draw attention and generate discussions within the football community.
Jabir’s recent comments have sparked a debate about the state of Asante Kotoko and the direction of the club under Amponsah’s leadership.
Due to inconsistent results on the pitch and internal problems, Asante Kotoko’s defense of the title they won last season has not gone well. The Porcupine Warriors are currently managed by assistant coach Abdul Gazale after Burkinabe coach Seydou Zerbo was sacked following the defeat to Medeama SC.
Jabir, speaking to Silver FM, said that “Nana Yaw Amponsah’s administration is the complete opposite of Asante Kotoko’s tradition and philosophy.” He also suggested that the owner should set tradition aside and find investors, whether they are Ghanaians, foreigners, or others, who will join the club because they have invested money in it and expect returns“
Asante Kotoko, currently in fifth place, will play against league leaders Aduana Stars in their next league game.
