Accra Great Olympics defender, Christopher Nettey, is optimistic that his team will avoid relegation in the current 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season, despite their struggles throughout the season.
The team, nicknamed the Wonder Club, recently parted ways with their former coach, Yaw Preko, due to a challenging start to the season.
The team’s current head trainer, Bismark Kobi-Mensah, has only managed two wins, two draws, and two losses in the three months since his appointment, leaving the team in 17th place on the league table with 31 points.
Nevertheless, Nettey believes that the team’s upcoming match at the WAFA Park will be advantageous, and he is confident that Great Olympics will survive relegation, despite having only eight games remaining in the season.
“We are moving to the WAFA Park and I believe it is in the best interest of the club,” he said in an interview.
“There are few matches to end the end of the season but I am convinced that Great Olympics will survive relegation,” he added.
The team’s next match will take place on Sunday against Tamale City at the Accra Sports Stadium.
