AFCON Q: Jojo Wollacott declared fit for Angola clash after goalpost fell on him during training

On Tuesday evening, while training with the Black Stars, Jojo Wollacott was injured when a goalpost fell on him.

The Ghana Football Association has since issued an update on his condition, stating that he suffered a soft tissue contusion of the right big toe and was immediately given emergency treatment by the medical team.

Later, he was reassessed in the medical room at the team hotel, and it was determined that he is almost pain-free with no major medical concerns.

The medical team has cleared him to train on Wednesday, and he will be available for selection. Wollacott had recently recovered from a finger injury that kept him out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Black Stars are set to play Angola in the first leg at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on March 23 and then play the reverse fixture in Luanda on March 27.

With four points from two games, Ghana is currently joint top of the Group E table following a 3-0 win over Madagascar and a 1-1 draw with the Central African Republic in June of last year.
