Match Report: Five-star Asante Kotoko smash Gold Stars to record biggest win of the season

Asante Kotoko on Sunday night recorded their biggest win of the season when they defeated Gold Stars 5-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The Porcupines, knowing a win would protected their place at the top of the league log, led through Georges Mfegue’s striker after 31 minutes.
A slick move ended with Mfegue driving in the second in the 36th-minute from Etouga’s assist as Kotoko led 2-0 at half-time.
After the break, Asante Kotoko continued to pile pressure on Gold Stars and grabbed the 3rd in the 59th minute, a shot from Augustine Agyapong deflected off one of the Gold Stars defenders and went pass the goalkeeper.
The lead was extended in the 79th minute, Franck Etouga converted a spot-kick after the ball was handled in the box.
Asante Kotoko wrapped the game up with the 5th in the 88th minute, Samuel Boateng lobbed the ball over the on rushing goalkeeper from outside the box to cap a flawless performance that merited the emphatic scoreline for the home lads at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The victory leaves the Porcupines top the table with 44 points from 20 games, 8 points more than 2nd placed Aduana FC who defeated Hearts of Oak earlier on.
