The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has rejected Hearts of Oak’s request to postpone the date and time for their 2020/21 Ghana Premier League match-day 30 encounters against city rivals Legon Cities from Thursday, June 24, 2021.
The Phobians wrote to the football governing body on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, to reschedule the game to enable them to have adequate time to prepare for their super clash against arch-rivals Asante Kotoko on Sunday, June 27, 2021, in Accra.
Hearts of Oak, in their letter to the FA, asserts that their arch-rivals Asante Kotoko will get enough rest ahead of the big game since they play their league game on Wednesday afternoon thus getting a 72-hour rest whilst they get a 42-hour rest should they play on Thursday evening.
The league leaders are proposing the two games be played simultaneously to ensure the two teams get the 72-hour rest.
But the hierarchy of the Ghana FA has declined Hearts Of Oak’s request for the postponement of the Legon Cities clash ahead of the Super Clash.
“The Ghana FA has sent us a letter that, our request for the change of time cannot be granted.
“For now, we are focusing on the Windy Professionals game on Sunday then we deal with the Legon Cities FC and use the other day for recovery ahead of the Kotoko game, ” Hearts PRO Opare Addo confirmed to Pure FM.
