Salifu Ibrahim and Benjamin Afutu’s two goals is enough for the Intercontinental club masters to emerge victorious over the Yellow and Mauves in the matchweek 29 of the Ghana Premier League 

Hearts of Oak attacking midfielder Salifu Ibrahim and Defensive midfielder Benjamin were on the scoresheet as Hearts recorded a vital win at home tonight in the matchday 29 of the ongoing Ghana premier league campaign.

It was a tough game tonight as League leaders, Hearts of Oak has 50 points whilst Medeama has 46 points.

The game began with each team looking promising very promising to win.

On the 27th minute, Medeama who were playing away from home came close to score through a set piece after Rashid Nortey effected a free kick which saw Vincent Atinga to have jumped over his foes and headed the ball which was very close to score until Goalkeeper Richard Arthur stretched to save the ball from kissing the net.

Also, there happened to be a controversial penalty call, after midfielder Isaac Mensah pushed and impeded Rashid Nottey from progress however, referee called for a fair play.

Hearts couldn’t have waited any longer to take the lead through Salifu Ibrahim who placed the ball perfectly into the goalpost, after Medeama blocked shots from Afryie Barnieh and Obeng Junior and later Salifu picking the ball, and placing it into the goalpost on the 40th minute.

Medeama tried on numerous occasions to restore parity whilst Hearts kept composure and compact at the defense till the ball went to the break

On the 60th minute, Midfielder Benjamin Afutu increased the tally for the home side after he [Afutu] jumped and connected Salifu’s free kick with a header to slot home for the hosts.

Medeama came so close to score on the 83rd minute however center referee called for a foul as striker Ahmed Toure who went searching for a goal used his hand to push the forward unfortunately Toure couldn’t go away with his action. He was yellow carded subsequently.

Hearts of Oak managed the scoreline till the entire proceedings came to an end at the Accra stadium.

The 2-0 victory see Hearts extending their lead to 53 points, three points more than their arch rivals Asante Kotoko, who play Inter Allies on Monday, June 13, 2021.
