2020/21 GPL: Match Report: Kwame Opoku on target as Kotoko pick vital point at Sogakope

Asante Kotoko on Sunday afternoon played a 1-1 draw with WAFA SC to earn a vital away point in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors, visited the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope today win the hope of picking all points at stake, in a matchday 9 fixture.

But WAFA SC commenced as the better side in the first half, displaying their usual passing game.

The Academy lads got rewarded with the first goal on the day courtesy a strike from danger man Daniel Lomotey.

After recess, the Asante Kotoko team worked hard in a bid to stage a comeback.

Fortunately for the team, their efforts paid off in the 62nd minute when red-hot striker Kwame Opoku levelled.

Although the two teams put up a good fight from there on, neither side could get on the scoresheet again.

Today’s result sees Asante Kotoko stay 7th position on the Ghana Premier League standings while WAFA SC occupies 6th.

Kotoko will trek to Cape Coast to face Ebusua Dwarfs in an outstanding league fixture on Wednesday.
