2020-21 GPL: Legon Cities held by Berekum Chelsea in season opener

2020/21 Ghana Premier League commenced on Saturday night with Legon Cities playing a with Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium in the opening match.
Captain of Berekum Chelsea, Stephen Amankona scored the first goal of the season, before Jonah Attuquaye levelled for the home side.
Experienced goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda kept the posts for the Royals with new recruits like Michael Ampadu, Elvis Opoku and Richard Ocloo earning a spot in the starting lineup.
Berekum Chelsea on the other hand, paraded experienced duo of Stephen Sarfo and Kofi Owusu in the attack, with Richard Kissi Boateng at the back.
On the 11th minute, Fatau Dauda parried off a deflected free-kick by Augustine Henneh to keep the game at 0-0.
But the visitors opened the scoring through Stephen Amankona. The enterprising midfielder netted from the spot in the 22nd minute to hand the Bibires the lead after Kofi Owusu was brought down by Joseph Adjei.
Cities lifted their game and snatched the equaliser through former Berekum Chelsea talisman Jonah Attuquaye. Attuquaye scored from the spot after Baba Mahama was fouled in the penalty area in the 34th minute.
The first half ended 1-1.
After recess, despite the substitutions by both sides, no goal was recorded again.
The second half failed to produce exciting scenes as no clearcut chance was created.
